Risk Assesment

Idents

An Ident is used by film production companies so it is recognisable. As soon as the audience see the ident they know who makes the film. Production companies use this to create familiarity. It is a form of branding the film.
The six most popular production companys all have their own idents that are known worldwide. These are WaltDisney, Paramount, Warner Bros, 20th Century Fox, Universal and Columbia.

These companies produce the most films, they have the biggest budgets and usually produce the biggest profit. These emblems are the most recognisable images in the industry.
Paramount’s mountain logo is the oldest surviving studio emblem dating back to 1912.
While Columbia’s torch carrying lady dates back to 1924.
And the iconic Art Deco monument that 20 Century Fox uses as a logo was developed in 1935.

Magazine Mock Up

Purpose of a Poster

Posters are use to advertise the film to the public. They are put in public places such as billboards, bus stops, back of magazines, side of buses and in shop windows. There were 20 posters released for Harry Potter: The Deathly Hallows Part 2 to help build up anticipation up until the release. They normally include the date of release, the directors name and production company and the names of actors. Usually if actors starring in a film are popular then the name will be included to make the audience more likely to want to see the film if they like that particular actor. Posters are available to buy and are sometimes collected.

The Purpose of a Magazine Cover

Film magazines inform the public about upcoming films, so the audience can learn the characters, actors, plot, production, release date, interveiws etc.... These are all used to get audiences excited and even interested. If you bought the magazine for another article and happen to come another good looking film then the magazine has served it's purpose. The front cover of the magazine is most often the biggest film due to be released, these are often made by big companies such as Warner Bros, Pixar, Twentieth Century Fox. This will reach a wide audience to attract readers. Magazines use puffs such as "exclusive" and "sneak peak"

Killer Elite Trailer Analysis

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=bMipUB20qHM

At the start of Killer Elite we have the green screen for about 5 seconds. And right from the start we are introduced to te two main characters, one appears to have the upper hand but then we have the start of the action with some complex fighting sequences after which he jumps out of a window still attached to a chai. We the have text  saying “Based on a true story”. We then have a phone ringing and some more drama as one of the men as found the other. We haves some hints to the story where we see a picture of an older man the words “he’s like a father” the “if you don’t do this he’s a dead man” Then there are a few snippets of fight scenes just to give the audience a taste of the violence in this film., The trailer then reveals when the film will be released with text.  The song then changes to an old school rock theme, fast cuts are then used of car chases, the characters, explosions.  The introduction of a heroin. Then in order of roles the actors names in between intense action scenes. I think it is clever how they only use the actors last names because they are already highly established actors so there first name doesn’t even need to be said. We then come to an unexpected end where we have a little comedy line the title of the film, a bit of a fight scene that end with a punch to the groin. I think his is a good ending to the trailer because the unexpected comedy may draw more of an audience to the film.
